Rotating pages...
This tool rotates pages within a PDF โ by 90ยฐ, 180ยฐ or 270ยฐ โ to fix orientation issues. It's commonly needed when a scanner saves pages sideways or upside down, or when a document combines pages created in different orientations (some portrait, some landscape) and needs them all aligned consistently.
Rotation happens entirely in your browser โ your document is never uploaded to a server.
If every page in the document has the same orientation issue โ for example, the entire file was scanned sideways โ rotating all pages by the same amount fixes the whole document in one step. If only some pages are affected โ perhaps one page in a 20-page document was scanned upside down โ selecting just that page and rotating it individually keeps the rest of the document untouched while fixing the specific issue.
Automatic document feeders on scanners process pages in whatever orientation they're physically loaded โ if a stack of landscape-oriented pages (like spreadsheets or wide diagrams printed on regular paper, rotated 90ยฐ) is fed the same way as a stack of portrait pages, the scanner doesn't know to treat them differently, and the resulting scan inherits whatever orientation the physical page was in when scanned. This is why scanning a mixed stack โ some pages in normal reading orientation, others rotated to fit wide content โ often produces a PDF where most pages read correctly but a few need rotating. Identifying which pages are affected by viewing the thumbnails (rather than opening each page individually) makes it quick to spot and select just the pages that need correction.
It's worth noting that rotating a page changes how it displays, but doesn't change its position in the document's page sequence โ a rotated page stays in the same place in the document, just displayed at a different angle. If a document has both orientation issues and ordering issues (for example, pages are both sideways and in the wrong sequence after a scanning mishap), these are two separate problems that need two separate fixes: rotation for orientation, and our Reorder PDF Pages tool for sequence. Fixing orientation first generally makes it easier to review the thumbnails and confirm the correct page order, since sideways thumbnails can be harder to read at a glance.
No. Rotating a PDF page changes only its orientation โ the text, images and content remain exactly as they were, just displayed at a different angle. No data is added, removed or re-compressed during rotation.
If you need to reorganise the page order in addition to fixing orientation, our Reorder PDF Pages tool can rearrange pages after rotation. If the document also needs unwanted pages removed, Remove PDF Pages can do that as a separate step.
Yes. You can select specific pages to rotate while leaving the rest of the document in its original orientation.
90ยฐ clockwise, 90ยฐ counter-clockwise, and 180ยฐ (upside down to right-side up) are all supported.
No. Rotation only changes the page orientation metadata and display angle โ the underlying content is unchanged.
You'll need to unlock it first using Unlock PDF, then rotate the unlocked file.
No. Rotation happens entirely in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device.
